Biography

Grew up in the northeast but have been south of the Mason-Dixon Line for 26 years. Moved to the RTP area 8 weeks ago for a job. My professional background is in mental health and social services. I have managed federal grants, headed crisis centers, worked with the the chronically mentally ill and the developmentally challenged. I have taught adult high school classes in a prison and attended law school, briefly. At one point in my life, even though I had no business background nor did I drink coffee, I opened a coffee house and learned to make a mean latte. Recently I accepted a job in the corporate world for a change of pace and the stability of decent pay and great benefits. It has been an unbelievable transition (to a corporate mindset) and I have felt off balance for most of the past 10 weeks. Not only did I leave my career behind with this move but also a 12 year relationship. I am starting over with only my clothes, some personal items and my two dogs (Jack and Lily) and will be reinventing myself yet again. I began reading skirt! about 5 years ago while living outside Charlotte,NC. Loved the stories, the poetry and the energy of the magazine. It is by far one of the most valuable things I do with my leisure time every month.
