Dr. Saba Jelokhani | Dentist

“The main reason I got into this profession was that I wanted to help people,” Saba says.  “Some of my buddies were in medical school, and they were working 36-hour days, so I chose dentistry.”

Saba became a dentist in 1991, and opened Smiles at Glenwood eight years later.  In addition to her successful general practice, Saba has volunteered for Wake Smiles, Apex Baptist Church, and Raleigh Rescue Mission’s mobile clinic.  “I feel like I need to give back to the community.”

That’s why she takes on two or three patients from Raleigh Rescue Mission every month.  “What’s so nice about doing that is that when people are in transition, they don’t even have an address to apply to Medicaid.  So we take them without charge and then, once they do get jobs, they often keep coming back to us.”
