“As corny as it sounds, flowers are really beautiful.  You can brighten someone’s day with them – not just at birthdays and weddings, but for whatever reason.”

As lead designer at Ninth Street Flowers in Downtown Raleigh, Seung enjoys creating out-of-the-ordinary arrangements and seeing the joy on people’s faces when she delivers them. “I get a lot of, ‘Those are for me? Really?’”

Also a painter and potter, the artist in her thrives when a customer trusts her to create an arrangement with little instruction. “I like the liberty of just making something I think is beautiful.”

One of Seung’s most memorable orders was for a man who wanted an arrangement that resembled a peacock for his wife. “I used lots of exotic flowers like birds of paradise and sort of fanned them out, then put it in a blue vase. He came back in later and told me she loved it.”
