What do Pippi Longstocking and Rachel Weisz have in common?

When I was eight years old, my heroes were She-Ra, Wonder Woman, and Pippi Longstocking.  These days, things are a little different, and a little less fictional.  My modern-day heroes include Dara Torres, Imogen Heap, Rachel Weisz, and my mom.  There’s a point, somewhere along the way, when we realize our heroes don’t have to fly, stop speeding trains, or sail the high seas.  They just have to be real women who have followed their dreams, and inspire us to do the same.  The Triangle women featured in this issue of skirt! have done just that.  From a fashion designer with her own label, to the president of an organization for female entrepreneurs, each woman made the decision to see a mere dream become a reality.  Now, that’s heroic.
